What is the "We are Global Citizens" project?

"We are Global Citizens" is a project that was initiated in Taiwan in 2022, encouraging individuals to learn about important global issues and how they can make a positive impact. With support from APCEIU/UNESCO, the project focuses on teaching Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various activities. The goal is to empower individuals to understand their rights, responsibilities, and how they can contribute to making the world a better place by taking actions that help the environment and society.

ABOUT PRE-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING

Global Citizenship Education (GCED) goes beyond just what we learn in the classroom—it's about gaining knowledge and skills to improve our lives and make a positive impact on the environment. The training for pre-service teachers in GCED takes a broad view and recognizes the vital role teachers play in every community. Their impact is so significant that it's truly remarkable. This training covers essential topics, such as understanding how Global Citizen Education works, respecting different cultures, learning about human rights, supporting gender equality, and caring for the planet. Teachers are like bridges in communities, and their influence is truly powerful. 

The main themes of the training: 

The pre-service teacher training on GCED is intended to adopt a holistic approach and framework to GCED which encompasses several key themes include: 

  • Understanding holistic framework of Global Citizen Education 
  • Understanding and Respecting Cultures 
  • Understanding Human Rights 
  • Gender Equality in our Society 
  • Overcoming Poverty
  • Protect the Planet

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled student at NTUE or off-campus students who are interested in learning GCED
  • Have a good command of English
  • MUST complete the prerequisite course on GCED on the online campus (course access will be provided to successful applicants)
  • Being passionate about humanitarian, social, and educational work is an advantage
