The camping season will run from about Sunday, May 26 - Monday, July 22, 2024 (dates still approximate -- will be confirmed as soon as possible). YOU SHOULD NOT APPLY TO BE A COUNSELOR IF YOU DO NOT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO WORK THE ENTIRE CAMPING SEASON.
PLEASE NOTE: TO COMPLY WITH UGA STUDENT WORKER GUIDELINES, ALL COUNSELORS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ENROLLED AS A STUDENT IN BOTH THE SEMESTER BEFORE AND AFTER THE SUMMER THEY SERVE AS A COUNSELOR. THE STUDENT WORKER ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT IS SATISFIED BY ENROLLMENT IN HIGH SCHOOL OR AT LEAST HALF TIME ENROLLMENT AT ANY INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION (IN STATE, OUT-OF-STATE, TECHNICAL COLLEGE OR SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL, USG INSTITUTION, UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE SCHOOL).

If selected as a counselor, those applicants assigned to a waterfront position, including all small camp counselors, will be required to possess or obtain American Red Cross lifeguard certification before the camping season begins.
Counselor training is very important to the success of the camping season. You will be expected to participate in two counselor training weekends if selected to be a counselor. Those weekends include:
February 23-25, 2024 All Counselor Training Rock Eagle 4-H Center
And one of the following weekends, depending on your Center assignment: March 15-17, 2024; March 22-24, 2024; and, April 5-7, 2024. Should you be selected to be a counselor, the specific date for training at your assigned 4-H Center will be included in your employment offer. These dates are subject to adjustment.
Please consider these training dates when applying for counselor employment. YOU SHOULD NOT APPLY TO BE A COUNSELOR IF YOU EXPECT TO MISS BOTH OF THE SPRING TRAINING WEEKENDS.
