Crafting Democratic Futures - Horizons Beyond High School - July 2023

We are asking you to take part in Horizons Beyond High School, a 2 week intensive and holistic post-grad program for New London High School students interested in exploring post-high school educational and professional opportunities. This summer workshop is for rising NLHS juniors. This cohort of students will engage in workshops focused on student-growth oriented goals and objectives to prepare for the college application and hiring process. Held at Connecticut College, you will also be working with members of the College, the High School, and community organizations who will draw on their academic and professional expertise to be mentors. This program is part of a partnership between the New London School District team and colleagues from Connecticut College’s Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy with the goal of implementing collaborative ways to support students like you upon graduation from NLHS. Students who attend consistently and complete the full program will receive a $700 stipend.  By completing this program, you will also be eligible for ongoing support from Higher Edge, an organization that assists students in the college application and transition process, as well as from faculty, staff, and students of Connecticut College.

Dates: Weekdays, beginning Monday, June 26th, ending Friday, July 7th; no meeting on July 4th

Times: 9am to 3:30pm (with a daily lunch break and snacks)
