No, they were given adequate opportunity to reconsider their ways. The first hajj after the conquest of Makkah was still organized by the polytheists. However, as the house of Allah had to be cleaned from shirk, they were given a few options for their safety. One of them was that they could leave the place safely within four months (unless there was another agreement that they abided by) and go wherever they wished to go. Another one was to ask for more time if they had not heard the message of Islam. In that case too, Muslims were required to provide them safety. They could also convert to Islam and become part and parcel of Muslim Ummah. However, if they did not want any of these options, then as a last resort, they had to be expelled by force. جی نہیں۔ انہیں سوچنے سمجھنے کا مکمل وقت ملا۔ فتح کے بعد پہلا حج انہی کے زیر انتظام تھا۔ اس کے بعد جب تمام حجت ہو گیا تو انہیں اختیار دیا گیا کہ چاہے تو ٤ مہینوں کے اندر بحفاظت شہر چھوڑ جائیں تاکہ اللہ کے گھر سے شرک کا خاتمہ ہو جائے، یا اسلام قبول کر کے مسلمانوں کے بھائی بن جائیں، یا اگر ان تک اسلام کی دعوت نہیں پہنچی تو مزید مہلت مانگیں جس دوران مسلمان ان کو امن فراہم کریں گے۔ لیکن اگر وہ ان میں سے کچھ بھی نہیں پسند کرتے تو بھر مسلمان انہیں بزور نکال سکتے ہیں۔
