The lives of Iranian women and girls were turned upside down in the 20th century. The cultural reforms of the Shah’s 1963 White Revolution opened new horizons for women, while the Iranian Revolution of 1979 imposed strict interpretations of Islamic law. Memoirists Jacqueline Saper and Farideh Goldin reflect on what it was like to experience these dramatic events as Iranian Jewish girls.
