In celebration of World Space Week, the event will take place at 7pm SAST on the 5th of October 2021.

Join us for a free online interactive interview, questions and answers about Space and beyond specifically for Sterre en Planete followers. Steve Sherman of Living Maths will host Jim Adams, Willie Koorts and Stefan Lotz for what will be an informative and entertaining event on space exploration, space weather and astronomy! Bring your questions, this will be an interactive event. The first 95 people to register may participate in the Zoom Chat or you can follow the event live inside the Facebook Group "RSG, Sterre en Planete."

Steve Sherman is the Chief Imagination Officer of the Cape Town based Living Maths, a STEAM based NGO. He teaches international students online and he is actively involved in numerous space related projects.

Jim Adams is the former Deputy Chief Technologist at NASA (now retired) and previously NASA's Deputy Director of Planetary Science. After a career spanning 4 decades, Jim has been a part of over 30 successful space missions to examine the Earth, the Sun and visit most of the planets in our Solar System (including Pluto!). He is a regular presenter on RSG, Sterre en Planete.

Willie Koorts has been working at the South African Astronomical Observatory for 34 years as an Electronics Technician, building domes, telescope control systems, instrumentation & CCD detectors, specialising in cryogenic- and vacuum systems.  He regularly does astronomical outreach & stargazing, giving talks to school-, social and church groups, writes articles for astronomy journals and outdoor magazines and has been co-host on the national radio programme "RSG, Sterre en Planete" for 12 years.

Dr Stefan Lotz is a Researcher at the South African National Space Agency. His research is focused on the modelling geomagnetically induced current, low frequency electromagnetic wave activity in the magnetosphere and ionosphere, and utilising novel techniques in deep learning for the prediction and analysis of geomagnetic activity. Dr Lotz is principal investigator on a number of SANSA's research projects in Antarctica and Marion Island. He recently joined the Multi-lingual speech technology (MuST) deep learning research group of North-West University as a research associate, where they focus on building explainable deep learning models that can aid in the understanding of the coupling between the solar wind and geomagnetic field.

The FREE event will be live streamed on the RSG, Sterre en Planete Facebook page.
