SMACS Journal Club Interest Form
Welcome to the SMACS Journal Club! A journal club is essentially a discussion-based meeting in which members dissect research papers and other scientific articles of interest. SMACS is structuring our journal club with the ultimate goal of preparing undergraduates for a future in research/academia, supporting undergraduate research endeavors, and building a common appreciation for science. It's completely optional, low-stakes, collaborative, and entirely student-led!

In the future, we'll send a PDF or link to the paper ahead of the meeting time. In general, it's in your best interest to try and take a look at the paper beforehand and come to the meeting with any questions, ideas, or comments. For Week 3's meeting, John served as the host, but this role will rotate each time as members will have the opportunity to present their own research or any relevant/interesting papers.

Our journal club meetings for Fall 2021 are tentatively Wednesdays 7-8 PM, right after the SMACS general meeting, on Weeks 3, 6, and 8; location is dependent on the format of the general meeting (virtual or in-person at Young 2033). However, we're relying heavily on your feedback and availability to structure meetings most efficiently.

Please try to fill out this form by the end of Week 4 so we can adjust our logistics to your preferences ASAP. Research papers can look daunting but we'll do our best to make them as accessible and "fun" as possible!
