Use this form to register your team for the WATER CHALLENGE!
Registration Deadline: October 3, 2023.
We invite teams made up of (no more than) 4 high school students to participate in the second N4WPP Water Challenge! This event will be part of the Water Symposium on November 3, 2023 at UNM-Gallup. Schools are allowed to enter more than one team into the event.
What to expect:
1. Student teams will be provided with a list of mentors available to assist the teams by answering questions about study materials and providing feedback on the team project development.
2. The student event will consist of two parts.
Part one will be a Science Olympiad-type exam to test the individual’s knowledge of
water-related issues. This will be a multiple-choice style test, which the
students will have approximately one hour to complete. Students are graded individually
on this portion of the event.
Part two will challenge the teams to come up with ideas and solutions to the real-world problem of ensuring all members of the Navajo Nation have access to clean water. The teams will work in groups of 4 to create a 3-5 minute video explaining how they would address the presented problem. The teams are encouraged to think outside the box and are NOT limited to only providing technical solutions to the problem; social or political solutions to the problem are also encouraged. Team videos are due 1 week prior to the competition to allow for judging.
3. Prizes include scholarship opportunities and wonderful prizes.
