Thank you for your willingness to participate in the training on prevention of gender-based violence in academic and research institutions in the Czech Republic.

There are 4 questions in this questionnaire. You can check the correct answers after submitting this form. For easier control, we recommend you to make a note of your answers.

The training materials were developed within the project “Prevention of gender-based violence in the work environment of Czech public research institutions and universities”, which was financed by Norway through the Norway Grants.

1) Imagine a workplace situation where female colleagues tell each other jokes with sexual overtones and make inappropriate references to others in the team. Choose which statements about sexual harassment are correct.

A) It is only sexual harassment if the jokes are vulgar, because they are inappropriate at the work place and to certain groups of people may be humiliating, discriminatory and harassing.

B) It is sexual harassment when workers feel uncomfortable.

2) Read the following story:

Story 1: Anna works as a successful manager in a research centre. During a work party, her supervisor repeatedly touched her back, and although she pulled away from him, he also tried to hug her. Anna felt uncomfortable but didn't know how else to make it clear to her supervisor that she didn't want his interest without offending him and jeopardising her job.

Story 2: A student often shows excessive attention to her tutor. On several occasions, she has told him that she would definitely get a better grade if he paid more attention to her, and suggested meeting him outside of school. The tutor repeatedly refuses and ignores this.

Choose the correct statement about sexual harassment.

A) None of these situations involve sexual harassment. It is merely an expression of affection by a superior toward a subordinate or by a student toward a tutor.
