WHO?: Students between the ages of 10 and 18 (grades 4-12) all across Maine.

WHAT?: SWARM! (Student Writers and Readers Meet!) is a network of youth writing and publishing groups across the State of Maine. Students will meet once per week and write and share their stories in a connected set of writing groups (The Hives), each virtually led by a trained teaching artist and Telling Room student guest authors and volunteers. Every student will have the opportunity to get their piece published in a professional chapbook, and will receive a copy of their book!

WHERE?: Online, so anywhere with WiFi!

WHEN?: Students will meet online once a week from the weeks of February 1st- April 12th (10 weeks total). Hives will meet either Mondays OR Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:30pm (you will select your day of the week preference later on this form).

GENRE?: Students will explore different genres of writing, and can choose which genre they want to focus on for publication.

COST?: Our goal at The Telling Room is to make programming available to all students who want to participate. No one will be turned away! To strengthen this program's reach we are using a sliding scale. The base cost for SWARM is $200. Paying that fee allows us to pay our amazing teaching artists! There are options to pay more (to support families who are not able to pay the full amount at this time) and options to pay less (again, this program is for everyone regardless of ability to pay).
