What will I get from the workshop?
This workshop asks “could we be doing better for our horse, achieve better communication and an improved performance?”
Bit fitters are trained to understand the conformation of the horse’s mouth; the thickness of their tongue, the width of the bars of the mouth, the shape of the jaw, the thickness of the lips, there is so much more to bit fitting than the width of the bit.
We need the horse to be comfortable in the mouth to achieve acceptance of the contact, whilst encouraging the horse to carry its self with its hind legs, not on the forehand.
Freda will look at your horses mouth and discuss with you what you would like to get from changing the current bit.
Using her knowledge and experience she will select up to 4 trial bits from her extensive stock from leading manufacturers (Trust, Myler, Winderen, Neue Schule). Freda will observe the horse working and discuss with you what feeling you are getting from the horse. You will be able to ride on the flat and over fences. Christine Shubrook (BS UKCC Level III Coach, Certified Testt®️ Coach) will be on hand for coaching input.
If you find something that works then Freda can order a bit for you.
Each session will be approx. 60 minutes, including your trial riding time.
Freda may overlap another rider while you are trailing a bit.
