The Williams Institute is currently seeking attorneys, law professors, and sitting judges to serve as volunteer judges for our Annual Moot Court Competition on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at UCLA School of Law.
Volunteer judges will preside over either the morning rounds (9am-1pm) or afternoon rounds (2-5pm) of the competition. During each round, judges will hear oral argument and will score students based on their performance. Judges are not expected to grade student briefs. Prior moot court experience is not required to volunteer as a judge.
Volunteer judges will receive materials we have developed to help them prepare for the competition, including a bench brief, sample questions, and summaries of the key cases and arguments. Breakfast, lunch and parking will be provided on the day of the event.
Judges will receive 1 hour of free MCLE credit for attending an optional educational session prior to the competition (approval pending). Presenters will cover the legal issues raised by the problem.
UCLA School of Law is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider. By attending this event, you may earn Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit in the amount of up to 1.0 hour of Recognition and Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession and Society credit.
