Thank you for your interest in volunteering for SACOMSS.
UPDATE: SACOMSS will be recruiting volunteers this summer!
However, as you may know, starting February 2024, SACOMSS has paused our services to focus on community engagement, while we restructure and improve our services.
Because of this change,
we will not be training on the practical knowledge of how to give a support service (DIAL/A-branch for example)
, and in the fall semester,
you will not have the opportunity to provide support services for a certain period of time.
Instead, we are looking for dedicated volunteers who are interested in researching and restructuring SACOMSS so we can improve our services.
Therefore, we are planning our summer training (online option will be available) to focus more on establishing a common baseline knowledge and discussion of SACOMSS’ values, such as being pro-survivor, pro-feminist, anti-racist, and anti oppressive. (You can find our definitions of these terms on our website).
In the future, once we consider our improvements and restructuring up to standard, we will resume support services, and all volunteers will be trained on giving support services. However, as this is an ongoing process, we’re unsure when this will be.
