LITURGY
This ministry area includes Liturgy Planning, Liturgical Ministers and Liturgical Music. This ministry is in need of Sacristans for our weekend Masses.  Sacristan responsibilities include altar set up, Eucharistic minister sign-in, collection activities, clean up after Mass, and more. Mass preferences will be scheduled.

Faith Formation
This ministry is responsible for the formation of our entire parish family members no matter how young or seasoned.  Volunteering within this ministry is an opportunity to grow in your own faith as you share the faith with others. Training and all resources are provided. Our critical areas in need of volunteers are Children’s Liturgy of the Word and Faith Formation for children PK3-8th grade.  The new faith formation year is starting and we need your help to provide these ministries to our Ascension family!
Children's Liturgy of the Word.  This takes place during the 8:15 or 10:30 Mass and offers the opportunity to proclaim the Word of God at the Children's level.  All lessons are supplied and you will work with a team. (you may check more than one box)
Middle School Faith formation serves our parish children grades 6 through 8.  Meeting times are Tuesday 6:45pm to 8:00pm.  Please choose your preferred position and grade(s).  (You can make more than one selection)
Family Faith Formation is offered in two sessions:  either one Sunday a month from 9:25am to 10:20am, or weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.  Please select the session you are willing to assist with.  You can assist at both sessions!  
Family Faith Formation:  Would you like to serve as a Catechist or an Assistant or either.  (You may choose both)  What grade or grades would you like to serve>(you may choose more than one)

Finance and Operation
This ministry focuses on the general operation of the parish. Facility, parishioner and staff safety, as well as behind the scene work on maintenance and grounds, are also found within the ministry.  Critical needs include Safety and Medical Ministry Coordinator and team members, Sunday offertory counters, help with our Ascension Construction Crew and Grounds crew.
Ascension Construction Crew helps with small repairs, set up for events, and grounds work. You can select multiple selections.
Safety and Medical Volunteers - This ministry volunteers during Mass and special events and works to ensure we have a safe facility and people willing to respond to emergency issues when necessary.
Weekend Offertory Counters - Responsible for accurately recording the offerings of parishioner and visitors.  Much of the work is done on computers.  Four teams rotate.  The commitment is every 4th week on Sunday.
Parish Community Life:  These ministries help to foster a close and welcoming community and serve our parish family in various ways. Community Life is currently seeking a Parish Nurse, as well as GriefShare and Funeral Ministry follow-up.  Nurse: Must be currently licensed with a willingness to serve fellow parishioners. Deacon Gary Harmeyer can discuss the expectations with anyone interested in this role.  GriefShare and Funeral follow-up: Individuals with some knowledge of the grieving process are needed to offer support and guidance to fellow parishioners at the time of loss of a spouse, child, or loved one. This can include phone calls after the loss or forming a support group to assist in their journey of loss to cope with this life-altering occurrence. (You can make multiple selections)
Social Justice Ministry
This ministry encompasses our efforts to serve the wider community and responds to those who are in need by providing basic needs and through advocacy.
Food Pick Up:  Social Justice Ministry critical needs for volunteers for product pickup from  Food Lion, Kroger and Panera.  ( you can choose more than one)
Open Table:  Ascension partners with other churches to form small groups of people who are willing to form a relationship with a family in need. This is a year-long commitment requiring 1-2 hours weekly after completing 14 hours of structured training.
Food Pantry Volunteers work directly in the pantry, which is open Monday-Friday 10:00am to 12:00pm. Volunteers interact with our guests; shelve donated food; bag USDA foods; and bring food cart from the commons to the pantry 10:00am-12:00pm (You can choose more than one)
