Dr. Qiao Sun, Professor and Department Chair of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary, will share her personal experiences and stories of pioneering women scientists and engineers, exploring the role and contributions of women in technological development. The lecture will also analyze the historical, societal, and structural factors contributing to gender imbalance, and present data-driven insights on how diverse perspectives lead to stronger and more inclusive engineering solutions. Finally, Dr. Sun will highlight inspiring success stories and initiatives to encourage more young women to pursue careers in STEM.
