Proposition
Universal primary education is a basic human
right, and the state is responsible for providing it to every citizen. Can we
say the same for higher education? While that remains a debatable point, we see
new universities getting opened in all parts of the country with promises for
even more in the near future. The argument given in support of these
mushrooming universities is to provide easy access to people, especially to
females for whom travelling distances and staying away from home can be an
issue. There, however, is the counter-argument that these universities are
professor-less and are proving very low-quality education, which is beneficial
neither to the student nor the country. They believe that existing universities
should be strengthened, and made to focus on quality instead of quantity.
