New Charter School for the Arts
Dear Community,
My name is Stephen Wynne and I am leading a strong team that is working towards establishing Avix Integrated Arts Institute (AIAI). Our application process is currently in full swing, the team began its work in February 2020. We are working diligently towards submitting our charter school proposal to the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) by June 1, 2020 to open a new charter school for the performing and visual arts.
Charter schools are not for-profit organizations, but rather free public schools that offer innovative approaches to education. We are seeking your opinion in the survey below to add your data in our application. The proposed school will be located in the Rio Rancho School District on Sara Road.
AIAI will provide a blended and Integrated Arts curriculum including the classical, media, and indigenous arts. Our core academics will be provided through a customizable and flexible online curriculum. Even though we are teaching via an online curriculum, students will be encourage to be present at our school building daily to receive support from our professional staff. The art education will also take place onsite at our school location and will be taught live at our spacious classrooms and by professional artists, as well as integrated throughout the English, Science, Math, and Social Studies curriculum.
There will also be a particular focus on the Mexican and Native American art forms that are such an important part of New Mexico’s culture and history. AIAI will organize deliberate outreaches to recruit students from Native American, African American, and Hispanic communities to ensure a diverse student body and an opportunity for at-risk students to receive a high-quality education.
Community support is a very important part of our charter school application to the PED. Our charter school application, along with this survey will be sent to the PED on June 1st, 2020. Please respond to this vital survey ASAP!
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion! All my best, Stephen Wynne
