SFA On-site Monitoring Waiver for NSLP/SBP
This waiver is specifically for School Food Authorities (SFAs) who are continuing to operate under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) and have not elected to operate either the Seamless Summer Option or Summer Food Service Program in school year (SY) 2020-21.

On-site monitoring is a self-assessment of the counting and claiming system and general areas to ensure program integrity and accountability of the NSLP and SBP. On-site monitoring is only required for School Food Authorities (SFAs) with more than one school site.

Under the USDA COVID-19 Child Nutrition Response #41, SFAs operating the NSLP/SBP have the ability to waive this requirement for SY 2020-21. SFAs should instead, to the maximum extent practicable, review program operations off-site (e.g., through a desk audit).

SFAs are required to complete these reviews annually by February 1 unless a waiver of this requirement has been submitted.
