STEM ELECTIVE, Grades 7 & 8
Grade 7 & 8 students will have the opportunity to select a focus area for new STEM courses in 22 - 23.  Please select one preference below, before June 24, 20222.    A description of each is:

1)  Agriculture  - A true outdoor classroom experience, with the utilization of our on campus aquaponics, greenhouse, apple orchard and mushroom farm.  Students will have hands-on experiences with exploring the history of agriculture and civilization, the science of agriculture, mushroom farming, marketing and the future of farming.

2)  Robotics - The course will focus on fundamental engineering concepts such as mechanical systems and materials, electronics and electrical systems, and programming concepts and logical applied math.  Students will learn to relate the design process utilizing the Lego Mindstorm robotics sets with the goal of programming the robots to perform a specific task.

3)  Energy & Environmental Studies - Students will study green technology, natural resources, and energy efficiency and its impact on our environment while using on-campus resources such as solar panels.  Students will also learn how to affect positive change in the world.  

4)  General STEM - Students will engage in an interdisciplinary study that focuses on developing knowledge and skills to solve problems, make sense of information, and learn how to gather and evaluate evidence to make decisions.  This type of problem based learning will focus on real world applications.
