Thank you for your interest in Englewood's Business Apprenticeship Program. This is an exciting program in collaboration with Bergen Family Center and North New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. It pairs junior and senior high school students with experienced business mentors from the community. Selected students receive hands-on experience, professional training, support, and a $2,000 stipend distributed in two allocations.
Who is Eligible?
•Any student entering their junior or senior year of high school at Dwight Morrow HS.
•Students must be at least 16 years old.
Selection Process
•Interviews begin week of April 11th. You will be contacted for your interview date.
•Accepted applicants will be notified by April 20th.
•An independent Apprenticeship Selection Committee comprised of local business/non-profit leaders will review each application, conduct interviews, and select apprentices.
Apprentices are required to attend all the following events:
Workplace Readiness Workshops
•Days: Wednesdays, May 4th—June 8th
•Time: 3pm-4pm
•Location: The ZONE, DMHS, Room 237
Summer Apprenticeship
•July 5 - August 12
•Daily work schedule will be determined by assigned supervisor.
•The apprentice commits to work 25 hours each week.
•More than one (1) day absent may result in termination from the program.
•The missed day must be made up to complete the required hours.
Summer Workshop Wednesdays
•Experienced professionals will facilitate workshops to equip apprentices with skills necessary to succeed in the workforce.
•Start/End Date: July 6 - August 10
•Time: 10am-12pm (lunch included)
•Location: TBA
Closing Ceremony & Reception
•Last day of program (August 12).
•Invitation to follow.
Transportation
•Apprentices must have access to transportation to and from work, workshops, etc.
