2024 McEown Community Park Garden Agreement
As a member of the McEown Park Community Garden, I agree to adhere to the following rules:

Plot Assignment
  1. All community garden members must be registered tenants with University of Saskatchewan Residence between May and August.
  2. Members will only be allocated one plot within the garden. If a plot is not available, you may be placed on a waitlist. Returning gardeners will have priority.
  3. Members may not ‘sub-let’ their plot to someone else.
  4. Members will inform the Garden Coordinator if they move out of Residence or cannot continue gardening during the gardening season.
  5. If a member is away on vacation, they will arrange for a friend or fellow gardener to care for their plot during their absence.
  6. If a plot is not maintained, the Garden Coordinator will contact you via email. If contact cannot be established, or conditions have not improved within two weeks, the plot will be considered abandoned and may be reassigned.
Use of Garden Plot
  1. Each member is responsible for the condition of their plot.
  2. Members will maintain their plot throughout the entire garden season by weeding and removing invasive species before they go to seed.
  3. Only legal vegetation may be planted in community garden plots.
  4. Members will not grow tall plants (such as corn) or install large support structures that shade neighbouring plots.
  5. Members will not use chemical herbicides or pesticides.
  6. Members will not sell any produce grown within the garden. You are welcome to share your surplus.
  7. Members will complete their harvest by October 15th and clean out their plot. All containers, rocks, stakes, trellises, garbage and ornaments must be removed and organic material piled for collection.
  8. Some shared tools will be available, but are not guaranteed. Please care for these tools as if they were your own; destruction of shared tools in the past has led to them being unavailable for use or replacement, and may lead to loss of garden privileges.
  9. Water will be available through several hoses at the garden, all sharing a common hookup. Please care for these hoses and water connections. Destruction or misuse of hoses or water may cause damage to university property or other garden plots and may lead to loss of garden privileges. 10. Ensure you remove ALL waste (disposable gloves, masks, etc) as well as your own tools from the garden site. e earth is not a garbage receptacle.
Community Participation
  1. All members will abide by the Residence Community Standards which are outlined in the Residence Handbook. e Residence Handbook can be viewed online at: http://livewithus.usask.ca/current-residents/residence-handbook/index.php
  2. All members will abide by guidelines to protect themselves and others in concerns with any possible COVID-related safety measures put in place by the City of Saskatoon or the Province should they arise.
  3. Members will respect common areas by walking on paths only and will only harvest produce from their own plot and not from plots belonging to others.
  4. Members will follow the direction of the Garden Coordinator made for the good of the garden, such as measures to prevent an infestation or invasive plants.
  5. Members will supervise their children when they are in the garden.
  6. To prevent vandalism, members will assist in promoting the security of the garden.
  7. The University of Saskatchewan is not responsible for the actions of garden members related to the garden or damages occurred in connection with the use of the garden by members or guests.
These rules are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all garden members. A failure to adhere these rules may result in being barred from participating in the McEown Park Community Garden in subsequent years.
