Feminist in Action Awardee
Each year Mass NOW recognizes the work of one phenomenal feminist in our community at our annual event, the Feminist Affair. Mass NOW celebrates the work of individuals whose work reflects our values and mission of pursuing equity, acting for justice and building intersectional feminism in the Commonwealth. The recipient of this Award is a remarkable leader for change within the field of advocacy, law and policy, women’s health, philanthropy, or other arenas that embody intersectional feminist values.
Nominees for the Feminist Affair Award must meet criteria set forth by the Mass NOW Awards Committee. The Committee welcomes nominees from every race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, age, ability, family status, and socioeconomic status in our effort to recognize the accomplishments from our intersectional and intergenerational Mass NOW community.
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
Work focuses on feminist/womanist issues concerning women, girls, and nonbinary people of color
Demonstrated commitment to community advancement and the advancement of historically underrepresented groups
Nominees should demonstrate engagement in social and/or racial justice activism with members, students, and/or community partners on issues such as:
Period poverty
Sex & Consent Education
Reproductive Justice
Immigration Justice
School Discipline/School to Prison Pipeline
Racial Justice
