You are the Band Director and get to program your own concert! You will be using the website JW Pepper, an online catalog of 1000's of Concert Band pieces to select for your program.
Use think link to start browsing Concert Band selections:
https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/concert-band-music.jspOn the left-hand side, you will see some tabs; Concert & Festival, Popular Styles, and the Seasonal categories are the ones you are allowed to use to browse through selections for the purpose of this project. Depending on what theme/type of concert you chose, you can use each category to fit your concert type. If you click each of those tabs, it will bring up another menu with more specified selections (ie. lyrical, marches, movie themes, etc.)
Grade 8's: You are only allowed to program pieces under the Very Easy (VE), and Easy (E) categories
Grade 9's: You are only allowed to program pieces under the Very Easy (VE), Easy (E), and Medium Easy (ME) categories.
Look up our pieces that we are currently working on using the search tab to get an idea of what the difficulty categorizations are for each of our pieces. (ie. Carpathia is an E, Darklands Legends is a ME)
Once you are finished picking your three (plus one encore) selections, fill out the questionnaire below.
As a finishing touch, you will create a digitally-designed Concert Poster/Program using PosterMyWall. Use the link here to begin creating:
https://www.postermywall.com/index.php/posterbuilderThere are tons of templates! You can also hand draw/colour one if you prefer that. Think about the things you would include on a concert program such as:
- Time
- Location
- Who is performing
- Pieces to be performed
- Admission ?
Have some fun with this! :)
Once you have completed your digital poster/program, you can save it for free (I don't care about the watermark at the bottom) and email it to me at
smacpherson@mysterynet.mb.ca. You can also take a picture of it and send it to me on our Band App. I can't wait to see these!
Please let me know if you have any questions - looking forward to listening to your concerts!
