The COVID-19 pandemic has fueled hate speech against vulnerable communities, who are the most affected. Chiefly among these are indigenous communities, migrant workers, illegal immigrants, refugees and the urban poor. Following a brief presentation of Asia Centre's findings on this topic, invited speakers and participants will deliberate on the following questions: To what extent has COVID-19 pandemic fueled hate speech against the vulnerable communities? What has been civil society and governments’ response to mitigate the issue? What specific measures can be taken to address the issue?
