Singeltje House Application Form
We are an international christian student house, located in Wittevrouwen in Utrecht, part of the Rooted project from the Singelkerk. We are a house of 10, with 6 girls, 4 guys both international and Dutch students. We're not just a student house where we live next to each other. We are a community that celebrates different cultures, united through our faith.

What do we do?
We want to share our lives and learn from each other's differences, so we can all grow as individuals and as a group. To do this, we organise different things:
  • A mandatory weekly housenight on Monday: We have dinner together and afterwards we have a faith-based or relaxed activity organised by one of our housemates. It is expected of every housemate to be present and participate on these nights.
  • Dinners together: We use an app called Eetlijst, where you can sign up to have dinner together.
  • House weekend (once or twice a year): Once or twice a year, we like to have a house weekend together. We might go away together, or just all stay home and do fun activities together.
  • Monthly activity: We try to organise an activity once a month on a Friday or Saturday, like a brunch or a garden clean-up. These are not mandatory in any way, but just fun to spend more time together.
  • Parties! Do we need to say more?! We just really like to throw a theme party every now and then. So far, we've had a meme-party, a Taylor Swift party, a pirate party and two house gala's :)

Who are you?
If you recognise yourself in the statements below, you may fit in our community!
  • You are a Christian and you help in shaping the Christian identity of the student house.
  • You are studying in Utrecht and are staying here for at least 6 months uninterrupted, in case of an international student or at least 2 years, in case of a Dutch student.
  • You are willing to be actively involved in the community life of the student house; you are prepared to engage in open-minded and transparent relations with the other students in the student house.
  • You are always present at house nights (Monday), and try to participate in other activities as much as possible.
  • You are willing to taking up certain tasks in the Rooted project, like organizing Christian Union activities, becoming a house elder, helping organize lectures in the Singelkerk, etc. as this is mandatory for living in the house. House and rooms
In our house, there's five rooms available for international students. These rooms are furnished and have an all-in price, ranging from € 425 to € 530 per month. The other five rooms are rented to Dutch students. Those rooms are not furnished and the prices range from €313 to € 482 per month.
In addition, there are a large common room and a kitchen. The house consists of two sections, that both exit in the common room. The left side of the house is the ‘male section’ with 4 bedrooms. In the right side of the house is the ‘female section’ with 6 bedrooms. Both sections have their own sanitary facilities. For facility services, there is a facility manager who works in the service of the Singelkerk.
