National History Day wants to expand and support professional development for Social Studies teachers, English teachers, and school librarians across the nation and around the world. For over 20 years, NHD has developed materials, lessons, and summer institutes to help teachers improve their content knowledge and their strategies for working with students.
In fall 2021, National History Day (NHD) is offering an online graduate course for teachers and school librarians that focuses on the evaluation of NHD projects. The course will include five webinars with NHD experts. Participants will develop a framework to assess and offer high-quality feedback to student projects as they advance through the stages of the NHD Contest.
The fall session of the course will run from August 30, 2021 to December 13, 2021. Teachers will work through five modules, attend 5 live webinars and 3 breakout sessions with other teachers.
Teachers will have two options:
1. Graduate credit option - With a passing grade, teachers may earn three graduate extension credits from the University of San Diego. The total cost is $650.00 ($425.00 for the course fee, $225.00 for the graduate credits.)
2. Audit option - With an 80% or better average, teachers will receive a certification of course completion referencing 90 hours from National History Day. The total cost is the $425.00 course fee.
Enroll now – space is limited. Registration will close on Friday, August 20, 2021. Join us and see how this strategy can revolutionize the teaching of history in your classroom.
Note: Each state and school district recognizes credit differently. Please review this course with your school to make sure that credits will be accepted at the end. If you have questions, please contact Lynne O'Hara -
