BHCC's OER Program: Course Designation
BHCC's designation for Open Education is growing to be more inclusive. Courses that are no cost, low cost ($50 or less) or use openly licensed content meet our requirement for the OER designation.

Please fill out this form to have your course registered as an OER/Low/NoCost course at BHCC. Please make sure you have your course number, section, and information about your course materials (e.g. textbook title & cost, links to publications, etc.).

The criteria for BHCC’s OER course designation is the following:

OER -- learning materials that use openly licensed material that is copyrighted in a manner that gives students and faculty free and perpetual permission to retain, reuse, revise, remix and redistribute original or revised content (also known as the 5Rs);
Low Cost -- learning materials that have a textbook cost of under $50; or
No Cost -- learning materials that have zero textbook costs, such as library resources.

Once the form is filled out, you will be contacted by Ceit De Vitto Senior Special Program Coordinator. Her email address is  kmdevitt@bhcc.edu.  Please use your BHCC email address below.

Clear selection
Please provide a description of the OER/Low/NoCost materials that you will be using in this course. This would include the textbook information (include the citation information with ISBN) or links to other course materials. If you require students to purchase a digital access code, this is part of your materials. Please include all costs of materials for students.
This is optional, if you have it, it's fine if you don't, don't worry. Please provide the Section ID for the course,  this is important to have so the Registrar's office can flag your course properly- This number would be in self-service. It also can be found with your roster. Or you can get it from your Department Chair.
Are you willing to allow Ceit De Vitto, the Senior Special Program Coordinator to review your course to see if it aligns with BHCC’s current definition of OER.  This information will only be shared with the faculty member. Criteria for review: Does the OER/no-cost/low-cost Materials meet the BHCC’s definition? Does the OER/no-cost/low-cost  Materials have appropriate copyright labels? Are the OER/no-cost/low-cost Materials accessible?
Please provide any additional information that you want to share, or any questions you have about the OER program at BHCC.
