Withdrawal from Learning Request
Authorisation for absence can only be given by the school. This form needs to be completed and returned to the Headteacher at least two weeks before the first day of planned absence. Your reasons for the absence must be clearly given to enable the Headteacher to reach a decision with regard to concessionary authorisation being given.
From September 2013 the Department for Education has amended the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 removing the Headteacher’s ability to authorise leave of absence for a family holiday/trip. Requests for a leave of absence in term time will not be authorised as the Regulations only allow the Headteacher to authorise absence (leave) in “exceptional circumstances”
The School’s Attendance Policy confirms that:
❏ Agreement to each request is at the Headteacher's discretion
❏ Each case will be judged on its own merits
❏ The Headteacher’s decision is final
❏ Leave cannot be authorised retrospectively
Should you wish to discuss your request in person, please make an appointment to see the Headteacher.
