Special Religious Education and Special Education in Ethics Participation

A feature of the public education system in NSW is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective at the choice of parents.

A parent/carer may at any time notify the school in writing that they wish to change their decision. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/carer has requested a change in writing.

For specific information regarding the curriculum for SRE and SEE options at Seaforth Public School - links are provided in the form below, plus can also be accessed from https://seaforth-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/learning-at-our-school/religion-and-ethics.html

If your preferred SRE or SEE option is not available, you may wish to contact the approved provider. Students not attending SRE or SEE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

The following options for Special Religious Education (SRE) are available at Seaforth Public School. Please choose one:

Option 1: Anglican - provided by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. Curriculum information can be found at https://youthworks.net/curricula

Option 2: Catholic - provided by the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay. Curriculum information can be found at https://www.bbcatholic.org.au/parish-community/ministries/ccd/curriculum

Option 3: Please check this box if you DO NOT wish for your child to attend SRE. Your child will participate in alternative meaningful activities. Alternatively you can choose for your child to participate in Special Education in Ethics (please see next question for further information.

If you have declined for your child to attend SRE above (by chosing Option 3 above), please check below if you would like your child to attend Special Education in Ethics. Limited spaces are available for SEE.

Please note: student numbers for Ethics are limited. If the class is full before you return your form, your child will be placed on a waitlist and will attend non-scripture until a place in Ethics becomes available.
