This Zoom training session, hosted by Gareth Metcalfe, is for Y1-Y6 teachers. It will explore a whole-school approach to understanding and breaking down mathematics word questions. We will see how the 'slow reveal' technique can be used to focus thinking on the structure of a question before children can calculate an answer. We will consider how equipment and images can be used, and how to present sequences of questions to gradually increase challenge and make connections. This session is ideal for schools that have a scheme of work but want to deepen all children's ability to problem-solve. It will be a thought-provoking session!
