1. Students are required to be at ALL rehearsals and performances as documented on the calendar. Students with excessive absences or tardies may be removed from the Marching Band.
2. The Marching Band calendar is subject to change at any time. When possible, notice of any changes will be given at least two weeks in advance and a current calendar will be permanently updated on the band website.  Please notify Mr. Brooks of any schedule conflicts as soon as possible.
3. Purchase of new band shoes is mandatory of all new Grizzly Band members.  New band shoes will cost $35.00 and these must be ordered through the Boosters by August 1st.
4. In the event of a Winter Drum Line and Winter Guard Season there may be additional expenses.  More information concerning these programs will be forthcoming.
5. Fundraising opportunities will be ongoing throughout the school year.  Goals will be set for each fundraiser.  If these goals are not met, events will be canceled.
6. Students will be required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average for eligibility. Students falling below a 2.0 will not be allowed to participate in Marching Band practices, performances, or celebrations.

The GVHS Band and Color Guard is supported by the generous contributions from parent and the community. To provide a well-rounded musical experience for our students, our summer band camp is $500 per student. Payment arrangements can be made. We further request each student seeks donations through fund raising.

FULL SCHOOL DAY:  Students are required to attend ALL classes in which they are enrolled (except those classes which must be missed because of travel time to a contest, game, or performance) in order to participate in an event that afternoon or evening. Medical and dental appointments shall be made on days OTHER than “participation” days.  If a student must be absent for an appointment, proper school procedures must be followed to clear the absence (IN ADVANCE) in order to permit participation.

PROCEDURE:  Parent/Guardian must notify the school administrator 24 hours in advance of an appointment.  -Student must not miss more than 1 class period for the appointment.  -Student must check both in and out with the attendance office. If the student does not comply with the attendance regulations and, in violation thereof, participates in an activity, that student shall be denied participation in the next two regular activities and may face additional disciplinary action. The principal or his designee shall verify compliance with school attendance regulations.

ELIGIBILITY:  All students in the band program are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average (GPA). Any student who falls below a 2.0 GPA will be declared ineligible and will not be allowed to participate in any performances until the following grading period, assuming the student has raised their GPA to higher than a 2.0. Any student who has a GPA lower than 2.0 for two or more grading periods (including progress reports) may be removed from any or all ensembles at Mr. Brooks’ discretion.  

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS DUE TO NON-PARTICIPATION AS A RESULT OF INELIGIBILITY or choosing to drop out. Once a donation payment is made, it is non-refundable. If you drop out before school starts and if there is a balance, no further payment is required. (This includes all band, drum line or color guard trips.)

Las citas médicas y dentales se harán en días que NO sean días de "participación". Si un estudiante debe estar ausente para una cita, se deben seguir los procedimientos escolares adecuados para despejar la ausencia (POR ADELANTADO) para permitir la participación.

PROCEDIMIENTO: El padre / tutor debe notificar al administrador de la escuela con 24 horas de anticipación de una cita. -El estudiante no debe perder más de 1 período de clase para la cita. -El estudiante debe ingresar y salir con la oficina de asistencia. Si el estudiante no cumple con las normas de asistencia y, en violación de las mismas, participa en una actividad, se le negará la participación en las siguientes dos actividades regulares y puede enfrentar medidas disciplinarias adicionales. El director o su designado deberá verificar el cumplimiento de las normas de asistencia escolar.

ELEGIBILIDAD: Se requiere que todos los estudiantes en el programa de banda mantengan un promedio mínimo de 2.0 (GPA). Cualquier estudiante que caiga por debajo de un promedio de calificaciones de 2.0 será declarado no elegible y no se le permitirá participar en ninguna presentación hasta el siguiente período de calificación, suponiendo que el estudiante haya elevado su promedio de calificaciones a más de 2.0.
