MALWARE ANALYSIS FOR INCIDENT HANDLERS
Malware (malicious software) is mainly developed and operated by cyber criminals. Malware attacks are increasing in both frequency and sophistication, thus posing a serious threat to essential services and infrastructure. This introductory course will provide a unconditional understanding of malware, how malware has shaped the global cyber security landscape, and the technical skills required to analyze a malware sample. You will learn various basic techniques to uncover malware features and align the procedures in a forensic investigation process.

This @iLabAfrica Cyber security academy course is ideal for Incident Handlers, Forensic Investigators, Malware Researchers, Network Defenders, Network Admins and anyone interested in breaking into the field of malware analysis.

Pre-requisites:

The course is designed to cover all the necessary basic concepts but participants with the following knowledge will be given the first priority:

- Basics of Operating Systems (Linux and Windows)
- Basics of Networking
- Using a hypervisor such as Virtual Box or VMware
- Any scripting language (Python, Perl, BASH, Ruby or Powershell)
- Basic programming concepts
- Enjoy taking challenges


The course has a balance of theory and practical labs. The course is offered on a live training mode and at the end of this course, one should be able to:

1. Perform basic static malware analysis
2. Perform basic dynamic malware analysis
3. Create Indicators of compromise
4. Understand Malware operations
5. Write a malware analysis report
