Thank you for your interest in a position on the CPRS Edmonton Board of Directors. This application assists the Nomination Committee with selecting candidates for nomination whose experience, skills, and personal attributes best meet the identified needs of our Board. Applications are due by May 10, 2024. A slate of eligible candidates will be presented at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 for election by the membership.
About CPRS EdmontonThe purpose of CPRS Edmonton, which serves the Edmonton region and northern Alberta, is to be the pre-eminent professional society for practicing public relations and communications practitioners within its membership region. To achieve this, we provide professional development/education opportunities, career enhancement, and professional accreditation. We are also committed to promoting the profession of public relations to existing practitioners and the public.
Each Director will offer:
· A time commitment to serve a two-year term.
· Ability to commit the necessary time for Board meetings, committee meetings, events, and meeting preparation (an average of 10 to 15 hours per month pending on position).
Personal qualities of all Directors
· A commitment to CPRS Edmonton bylaws and CPRS Code of Professional Standards.
· Personal and professional integrity and informed judgment.
· Ability to work positively, cooperatively, and respectfully and communicate effectively as a member of the team with other Directors.
· Enthusiasm for the role and its demands.
· Ability and willingness to represent the Society as required within the broader community and be an ambassador for CPRS Edmonton.
Next steps
· Candidates who are approved by the Nomination Committee will be contacted directly and invited to have their names added to a slate of candidates.
· The slate of candidates must be presented to our membership 30 days in advance of the Annual General Meeting.
· You will be asked to attend the in-person Annual General Meeting on June 26, 2024 where CPRS Edmonton members will vote on the slate of candidates.

NOTE: According to the current CPRS Edmonton bylaws, no member shall be eligible to hold office on the Board unless they he have been a member in good standing for at least 12 months. This eligibility includes membership in other member societies of CPRS National Society. A vote for the election of Directors will only be held if there are more candidates than vacant positions, otherwise, incoming Directors shall be acclaimed.
