Community Stories: Letter to Yorktown on Anti-Racism
The recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and so many others have sparked widespread awareness of the long-standing injustices against Black people in this country since 1619.

After speaking to Yorktown alumni, current and retired teachers, current students, parents, and even our council members, we’ve written an open letter to the YCSD with the support of 2000+ signatories in the form of a petition: http://chng.it/csHZTbYNTJ

In addition to this letter, we would like to compile a list of stories to encourage the administration to take substantive action and help them understand the magnitude of the problem.  Any member of the Yorktown community can share what they have experienced or observed as a part of the YCSD. You may remain anonymous or include your name.

We hope for this to be a continued open discussion. We plan on sharing these stories with the Board of Education in July.
