In light of the World Health Organization's declaration of a global pandemic and recommendations from public health authorities, The Asia Foundation, Google, and APEC have decided to postpone the 2020 App Challenge to a later date. We take this step out of an abundance of caution and sincerely regret any inconvenience it may cause.

We are working together with our partners to determine a better time to schedule the APEC App Challenge in Malaysia before the end of 2020. We will keep your application materials on file and update you all when the new dates and venue have been selected. For now, we are keeping the application window open until further notice. If you wish to withdraw your application for any reason, feel free to let us know via email (tech@asiafoundation.org)

Teams of talented software developers from across the region will be invited to take part in the 2020 APEC App Challenge: a competition with the aim of helping elderly internet users in APEC engage with the digital economy. The App Challenge is being supported by Google and The Asia Foundation and will occur on the sidelines of a major international trade meeting in Malaysia.

If you are a developer from an APEC economy* who is interested in joining this App Challenge, please register using the form below. We will select the best pair of developers from each country and support them to build their app from scratch. All teams will be brought to Malaysia for the event, with flights and accommodations covered.
