Board of Directors: Willingness to Serve Form 2023
Please prayerfully consider if God has been preparing you to share your time and talents in service on the Board of Directors at Community Lutheran Church.  

The Nomination Committee will use this information as they evaluate potential candidates for the Board of Directors election on May 21, 2023. All those who are open to serving on this board are asked to carefully complete this form by May 5, 2023.   Please note: those who complete this form are agreeing to be part of the nomination process, which may or may not result in being on the ballot. Candidate Qualifications:
Candidates should be active in worship and must be a member of Community Lutheran Church, at least 21 years old.  
Those in this role tend to enjoy working in a team environment dedicated to overseeing the policies and future goals of the church, possess strong communication skills, work well with others and are able to maintain discretion and confidentiality.

Board of Director Duties:
The Board of Directors operates using a Best Practices Governance Model by setting and monitoring policies that attempt to wisely guide the temporal affairs of the congregation (i.e., finances, employment practices, communication with the congregation, etc.) and ensure that that performance occurs.  Their role is a governance responsibility as assigned by the Constitution and Bylaws.  
Therefore, the Board of Directors will provide the following:
1. Authoritative linkage between the Congregation and the operational organization.
     a. Ensure that the policy and financial decisions are executed in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
     b. Communicate regularly to the Congregation the pertinent activities of the Board and remain open to communication from the Congregation.
     c. Solicit input annually on the appropriateness of the Strategic Plan Policy.
     d. Inform the Congregation of the degree of success in meeting the Strategic Plan of the Congregation.
2. Written governance policies that realistically address the broadest levels of all organizational decisions and situations.
3. Assurance of successful organizational performance on Strategic Plans and Executive Limitations.
     a. Ensure that the Strategic Plans (Values, Vision, Mission, and Critical Targets) of the congregation are the driving forces for all activities and related services at Community.
     b. Periodically review and update the Strategic Plan.

Meetings and Term of Service:
The Board of Directors typically meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month.  
The term of service is three years and begins in June.
