Pollinator TALK June 19, 7pm & Pollinator TREK June 24, 2023 9am - Noon
By registering here that you plan to attend one or both of the events that make up our Pollinator TALK & TREK, we'll be able to send you a reminder a few days before as well as be able to alert you any changes due to rain etc. Knowing the number of attendees will also help us plan to make this a more fun and informative TREK for everyone participating.

Boone-Dutch Creek Watershed Alliance and a host of partnering organizations invite members of the public to join in on a Pollinator TALK on Monday, June 19 (7pm via Zoom Webinar) & TREK on Saturday, June 24 from 9am - Noon, during National Pollinator Week (June 19 - 25). These events are designed to cultivate curiosity and help people discover how uniquely connected and essential native pollinators are to our native plant communities.

On the day of the Pollinator TREK, participants are invited to visit three sites in the Boone Creek and Dutch Creek Watershed area: Petersen Park Pollinator Garden north of the Peterson Park Beach in McHenry, IL (map at https://goo.gl/maps/R1AxVCTyJUd4grFE7), Boloria Meadows Nature Preserve located at 7219 Millburne Ct, Bull Valley, IL and Boone Creek Conservation Area at 916 N Cold Springs, Bull Valley, IL. Hosts at each site will guide visitors through unique activities in order to help identify pollinators, such as bees and butterflies. Participants will learn how to use cell phone photography to make observations and hone their pollinator identification skills.

Participants will discover Nature's Essential Workers at this Fun, Family-friendly Pollinator TREK. Attendees are also encouraged to come dressed as their favorite pollinator to receive a special gift. Educational exhibitors, fun photo ops, crafts & cool activities with prizes are planned.

We will kick off National Pollinator Week on Monday, June 19 at 7 pm with a Pollinator TALK Bring Back the Pollinators by Xerces Society Ambassador Carol Elkins. Join us for this webinar to learn about BEES and BUTTERFLIES in your neighborhood and ways you can invite them into your own garden. You'll also learn about fun community science opportunities in our watershed.
