Content Writer
The content writer will focus on creating engaging and informative blog posts and newsletters to be shared with schools, participants, fans, and donors. Through the work of the content writer, PEL will be able to grow our mission further by reaching new supporters and keeping our current community informed. The content writer will work with the public relations team of PEL to aggregate everything in the organization to be shared. Responsibilities include the following:
  • Develop captivating and well-researched content for regular (monthly) newsletters that resonate with a diverse audience, including students, esports enthusiasts, supporters, and sponsors.
  • Create strong calls to action that encourage community support through donations or encouraging outreach.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather information, updates, and stories that highlight the achievements and initiatives of Pacific Esports League and our affiliated student clubs.
Qualifications (Recommended)
  • Proficiency in writing engaging content and the ability to tailor content to various audiences while maintaining a consistent tone.
  • Strong storytelling ability to convey the impact of Pacific Esports League's initiatives and showcase the human side of the scholastic esports community.
  • Creativity and innovative thinking to present information in a compelling and engaging manner.
  • Passion for improving scholastic esports within California.

Event Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing a variety of events, from small internal meetings to large-scale in-person events. You will work closely with our community, vendors and internal teams to ensure that each event is a success. Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Works closely with the Public Relations Team as well as the Operations Director to plan and run all PEL community events, as well as in-person and studio environments.
  • Research and design new event ideas to be held virtually, as well as contacting hosts for workshops.
  • Help to plan and coordinate in-person events.
  • Develop and execute event plans, including timelines, budgets, and logistics.
Qualifications (Recommended)
  • Strong communication skills with various venders and stakeholders for events.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Ability to multitask various projects in development to ensure that every event has the same quality expected from PEL.

Education Coordinator (Sapling Initiative)
As the Education Coordinator for the Sapling Initiative at PEL, your primary focus will be on developing, coordinating, and delivering educational programs and content specifically tailored to the needs of clubs enrolled in the Sapling Initiative. Working closely with the Broadcast and Public Relations teams, as well as external guests, you will play a key role in creating engaging and effective educational initiatives to support the growth of these student clubs.
  • Create engaging projects and workshops that inspire students to develop their skills within our Broadcasting program.
  • Collaborate with event teams and workshop guests to ensure program alignment with the organization’s objectives and industry standards.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for program expansion and improvement into new career programs.
Qualifications (Recommended)
  • Experience leading career development programs with high school to college students.
  • Understanding of esports and careers involved in the ecosystem.
  • Excellent organizational skills; must be able to organize various speakers and schedule events.
  • Strong communication ability both to students involved with the program, but also to external guests.

Sponsorship Coordinator
The sponsorship coordinator will handle outreach and communication to companies in a local and statewide setting to secure long term sponsorships to ensure stable growth for PEL. The sponsorship coordinator will work to seek out new companies for support as well as supporting current sponsors. Responsibilities include the following:
  • Identify and research potential corporate sponsors, partners, and donors aligned with PEL’s mission and values.
  • Develop and implement sponsorship strategies tailored to the interests and needs of potential companies.
  • Collaborate with the Public Relations and Finance team to ensure that sponsor benefits and recognition are accurately displayed across various platforms.
Qualifications (Recommended)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
  • Strong understanding of the scholastic esports landscape and the interests of potential sponsors.
  • Passion for improving scholastic esports within California.

Social Media Manager
The Social Media Manager focuses on expanding the outreach of PEL through various social channels. Working in tandem with our Media and Public Relations departments, the Social Media Manager will craft compelling content that showcases many of the highlights of PEL and helps to encourage donations and membership growth. The responsibilities include the following:
  • Collaborate with the media and public relations teams on the scheduling and release of social media posts, graphics, videos, and other content on our public platforms.
  • Handles the social media aspects of campaigns and works towards engaging our social media audience. 
  • Monitor, report and log social performance metrics to to gain insights into PEL's reach and audience preferences.
  • Work closely with the Public Relations team to conceptualize and design public campaigns that resonate with our community and donor networks.
Qualifications (Recommended)
  • Showcase experience with the major social platforms (Twitter, TikTok, Instagram)
  • Familiarity and experience with PEL's competitive titles, including Valorant and League of Legends.
  • Ability to actively respond to comments, messages, and engage with the community within the Pacific Esports League.
  • Some ability to create, lead, and edit short-form content.

What is the Pacific Esports League (PEL)?

The Pacific Esports League is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization founded to help provide more college and career opportunities for high school and college students through their passion for video games. Using esports, we create collaborative uses for esports by supporting the development of clubs across California to allow students the chance to explore the entire ecosystem of career paths available to them through their passion for esports.

To promote our vision, we organize low-cost tournaments and community events for the students of California. During these events, we provide students the resources and experience to develop their broadcasting skills. So far, we have had over 1,500 students compete in our events from 250 different high schools and colleges.

Our team is made up of around 35 college students and young adults from across California, volunteering their time to make the region stronger.
