Parks and Green Space Strategy: Inclusive Placemaking
The purpose of this engagement work is to inform one of the strategic aims of the Parks and Green Space Strategy:

Inclusive placemaking: ensuring parks are managed in collaboration with the community and are welcoming and accessible.

This will be achieved by working alongside residents and community organisations to enable and support community led initiatives.

As part of the strategy development we must understand ‘where we are now’ on the journey to achieving this goal.

We are asking community groups 5 key questions:

How have you gained insights into how people experience parks as visitors, volunteers and community organisers?

What insights can you share about how people experience parks as visitors, volunteers and community organisers?
Some examples: Are they where your community meet for social activities, fitness, cultural events? Do people have a positive/negative/other experience when they visit your local park? Do some organisations, visitors, groups of people or volunteers have different experiences to others?

What do you think needs to change to make parks and green spaces more welcoming?
Some examples: Does your park have a great community notice board, or could it be better? Could we provide more information/interpretation about what is in your local park? What could we as Bristol City Council do (e.g. volunteer support, park management), and what could the local community bring?
Please answer here: *
What do you think are the barriers and enablers to change?
Some examples: Does your group give people the opportunity to feel more welcome in their local park? Is your group/community well supported to make changes or do you need us to do more? Have budget cuts impacted your park? Do you have a specific asset or facility in your park which makes people fee more welcome? What have you experienced when working with BCC staff?
Please answer here: *
How could we work together to make parks more welcoming?
Some examples: Are there specific improvements or facilities that would welcome the wider community to your park? How could we work together to achieve these? Would you like to see more supported/ad hoc opportunities to get involved in the park? Are there examples from other parks which you think work well?
