2022-23 SHINE Applications
The GLSEN Washington SHINE Team is a group of student leaders working to create safer schools and communities throughout Washington.  The team members will meet virtually throughout the year to develop professional skills, form a network of other youth leaders, organize programs in the community that promote respect for LGBTQ+ students, and have fun!

SHINE members must be committed to being inclusive and responsible and must follow through on organizing responsibilities for the team. Each member must be open to learning, willing to examine their own privileges, and dedicated to developing leadership/activism skills.

The SHINE Team will consist of 15-20 young people from Washington State who will meet virtually every week on Mondays, 6-7:30 PT to plan and present events, programs, and actions that seek to shift the landscape for LGBTQ+ students in Washington. Possible projects this year include advocacy for gender-neutral bathrooms in schools and the creation of training modules for professional development.

Requirements to join:
- Be between the ages of 13 and 19 at the time of submitting your application.
- Be able to attend weekly virtual SHINE meetings on Mondays from 6-7:30 PT

Priority applications are due by October 30, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. PT, but applications will be accepted throughout the year. The program will begin in October.

A stipend of $100 will be provided assuming full completion of the program with above 60% meeting attendance.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to program organizers lily@glsenwa.org and marsha@glsenwa.org.  We'd love to hear from you!
