What is a Bike Rodeo? A learning event that teaches children to ride a bike safely. Includes bike and helmet checks, rules of the road, and travel through courses that help develop bike handling and safety skills in fun activities such as Obstacle Dodge, Turtle Race, and so on. MassBike's Safe Routes to School is providing the instructor for this event. A parent or a parent-designated adult should accompany the child to the event.


In honor of Baystate Bike Month, the South Hadley Bike/Walk Committee has planned a "Get Ready to Ride" afternoon for people of all ages who want to get their bikes inspected and ready to ride, learn more about rules of the road, and explore use of e-bikes.  Competitive Edge Ski & Bike, AAA, Valley Bike, and the South Hadley Bike Patrol will all be there. Ice cream from Batch Ice Cream will be available too! Children K-8 may participate in informative and fun Bike Rodeo bicycle education activities, instructor provided by Massachusetts Safe Routes to School and MassBike. Parents should pre-register their children for the Rodeo at southhadleyrecreation.org and plan to bring a bike and helmet for each child. All activities take place at Buttery Brook Park.
