Call for Application: DEDI Green Gate 2023

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 14TH

The ugly truth regarding the fashion industry’s massive carbon footprint is spreading far and wide. The industry accounts for 8-10% of the world’s carbon emissions and 20% of worldwide wastewater. Shockingly enough, the fashion industry takes up more energy than the world’s biggest “climate sinners” the aviation and shipping industries combined.

As the demand for a fashion industry that looks out for both the planet and the workers within it rises, so does the need to enable professionals in this same industry with the inspiration, tools, know-how, and technology to make that happen.

DEDI Green Gate aims to be part of exploring and promoting solutions through dialogue between Egyptian and Danish designers, entrepreneurs, professionals, researchers, and students working in the fashion field and concerned with a more sustainable approach to fashion.

Working within the broad theme of circular economy for the third year and the specific theme of sustainable fashion for the second year, DEDI Green Gate offers the opportunity for 12 Danish and 12 Egyptian youth, between 18-35 with a good command of English to take part in its program.

The program includes local meetings for each delegation, and two study trips in Egypt and Denmark for the whole group. The program is designed to explore the different contexts of sustainable fashion in Egypt and Denmark and find inspiration and solutions through field visits, capacity-building workshops, and plenty of opportunities for peer-to-peer learning.

All traveling and accommodation costs related to the project will be covered by DEDI.
