AMP Spring 2021 - Rock Band Program (In-Person)
Applications for AMP's limited In-Person Rock Band program are open until March 8 @ 11:59pm. Students need to register in advance online using this form.

AMP is holding a limited OUTDOOR program from March 15 - May 19th at a private residence in Indio, CA. Musicians will be able to create, communicate, and collaborate by learning their favorite songs in a band of other musicians for 10 weekly rehearsals with the guidance of a band coach, culminating in a performance of a full set of music.

Band rehearsals will occur on Tuesday or Wednesday (transportation not provided). Tuition for the 10-week session is discounted to $500/musician, and further Tuition Assistance can be provided with the submission of a Tuition Aid application.

Applications for the program are open for all musicians ages 11-18 in the Coachella Valley, and all musicians must submit an audition tape. Acceptances to the program will be based on whether a musician is ready to participate in a band, whether they are available for regular rehearsals, and the amount of students AMP is able to accommodate.

AMP SPRING 2021 - SESSION DETAILS
March 16 - May 19: Regular Session

· 10 weeks of scheduled OUTDOOR rehearsals (once a week)
· Potential performance opportunity (date and logistics TBA)

This program will be held OUTDOORS at a PRIVATE RESIDENCE in Indio, CA.
The location is close to the intersection of Avenue 49 and Madison St. Full address will be given when accepted into the program.

Once assigned into a band, your AMP band rehearsals are scheduled once a week at the same time each week. The goal will be to put a live set of you and your band's favorite songs. Bands will rehearse on Tuesday or Wednesday after-school.  

Shows are a centerpiece of AMP's usual rock band programs, but this Spring presents us with new challenges thanks to the pandemic and restrictions. There will be a culminating show at the end of your ten weeks of rehearsals, though we don't currently know whether there will be a live audience or if it will be a live-streamed performance.

We work hard to ensure that everyone who wants to be able to participate in our AMP Spring experience is able to. However, due to the delicate nature of band lineups and rehearsal availabilities, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT IN A BAND. The best way to increase your chances of being in a band is to submit as much availability as possible.

Participation in AMP Spring also requires the use of a free messaging app called WhatsApp. Most AMP session info is distributed to both guardians and students this way, and that is the official way for bands to keep in touch during the session. WhatsApp is cross-platform, so it works on all phones, and all chats created by AMP are monitored by band coaches and AMP staff. If students do not have access to a personal telephone, please let Will Sturgeon (AMP's Executive Director) know before starting the session.
AUDITION FORMAT
All students must submit an AUDITION tape. For your audition tape, please submit:

- Play/sing something classic (pre-1990's)
- Play/sing something modern (post-1990's)
- Play/sing something original OR play/sing something improvised

Please tape your performance in one shot (no splicing or editing the video), upload to a video hosting site like Dropbox, Google Drive, or Youtube, and send to info@ampcv.org by March 8 @ 11:59pm.

We may schedule a Zoom follow-up interview with you during the week of March 8th.

AMP programming is open to all qualified young musicians in the Coachella Valley between 11-18 years old. Acceptances are dependent upon the results of a live audition, the current capacity of the program, and your availability.
TUITION + TUITION ASSISTANCE
Participation in the AMP Spring 2021 session costs $500, and there is partial Tuition Assistance available.

Part of AMP's mission is to keep our programs affordable, so the full Tuition cost is less than what it actually takes AMP to put one student through our programs. AMP does this intentionally as part of our mission to make AMP programming widely available.

Payment for the Spring session is due by March 29, or can be set up as a recurring monthly payment for three months. A special thanks to all of our generous donors and sponsors who allow us to subsidize much of our tuition costs and to offer this session to families at an affordable price.
