Antelope Valley College created the First Year Experience (FYE) program to support the successful academic and social transition of new students into the college community.
As part of the AVC Promise and First Year Experience Program, please read and agree to the following benefits and students commitments necessary for student success in your first year of college.

Complete the student success steps (application, orientation, education plan)
Complete the financial aid application (FAFSA or CA DREAM Act Application)
Meet with a counselor to develop a comprehensive education plan by the end of my first semester. I agree to follow my education plan, and follow up with my counselor regularly. This can be completed in various counseling departments across campus.
Must enroll full time (12-15units), prioritizing enrollment in English courses, Math courses, and the Human Development 101 course in my first year.
Must successfully enroll in 3 consecutive sessions (Summer to Spring), completing 30 units by the end of my first year with a minimum 2.0 GPA and 75% completion rate.
I agree to notify the FYE program of any change in my status at Antelope Valley College, such as dropping a class, academic probation, withdrawal, leave of absence, transfer to another school, etc.
I agree to attend at least 4 FYE Academic Success Workshops and/or activities per semester.
I will update any changes in my contact information (email, phone, and mailing address) in Admissions and Records.
When paired with a mentor, I agree to meet with my mentor as required by the program.
I will check my Antelope Valley College email for updates, information, and communication.
I understand that the FYE program may monitor my progress by contacting my instructors while I participate in the FYE program. I understand I may be referred to the appropriate academic and student support services based on input from my instructors.
I agree to abide by the Antelope Valley College, Student Code of Conduct.
