The American Legion Auxiliary Hawai'i Girls State (ALAHGS) is honored to offer this premier leadership program to the youth of Hawai'i.  We are so excited that you have decided to apply.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  We are ALA Hawaii Girls State- but, over the summer 17,000 girls will be participating in their own state's program across the United States of America.


To be eligible to participate in the ALA Girls State/Girls Nation programs, you:
1.  Must be in your Junior Year of High School when you apply.
2.  Please see final note to send a link for 2 recommendations.
3. Must be a United States citizen or legal inhabitant of the United States.
4.  Must attend all sessions (Final dates to post by May 1)
June 13 Monday 4-8p Virtual
June 15 Wednesday 4-8p Virtual
JUN 17 or 18 Check in and stay through June 20 In Person- Resident Hall provided
(Most Likely at Aloha Tower HPU dorms)


If you are one of the two girls chosen to attend ALA Girls Nation in July, you  must be able to clear a background check by the United States government, the White House and the U.S. Secret Service.

If invited and accepted into the prestigious ALA Hawai'i Girls State program, delegates provide a $100 donation to ALAHGS to offset a small portion of program expenses including lodging and meals in order to attend ALAHGS.  Donations are made once you receive acceptance into program.
Scholarships are available based on need.

ALAHGS is completely operated by volunteers (no paid staff).  

Cancellation Policy: 30 Days prior 100% Refund; Cancellation 15-29 Days prior to start date 50% Refund; Cancellation less than 15 Days to start date will result in forfeiture of donation.
 
ALL Delegates must arrange travel to and from the program at Hawaii Pacific University Aloha Tower Dorms.

While ALA Hawai'i Girls State would like to be able to accept all applicants, our program can only accept a limited number of candidates.  A follow up email will be sent by April 2 , which will include an announcement stating whether or not you have qualified for the Interview Stage.
