motionball for Special Olympics is a national non-profit organization raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics Canada Foundation through integrated sport and social events across Canada. motionball is looking for two passionate student leaders to take on the role of event directors at SFU to promote and grow the Special Olympics movement on campus. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills and build your resume, while getting involved with an important cause.
Normally, motionball event directors work together with their committee of about 4-6 students to run on-campus Marathon of Sport events that bring together students and local Special Olympics athletes in a day of sport and fundraising, but this year will be all about getting creative while we navigate raising funds for motionball during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The role of the event directors include:
- running and organizing weekly or biweekly meetings, as needed
- organizing and delegating to run fundraising events as well as the marathon of sport
- building relationships with other school organizations (for example, SFSS)
- communicating with national office based in Toronto
This role may sound intimidating, but you will have support and direction the entire way through the semester. There is a plethora of resources easily accessible to you as well as one-on-one support from previous team leaders and national office.
