Job Description: Board Member – 5 Rock Learning

**Location**: Remote/Hybrid/Monthly in-person meetings  

**Commitment**: Part-time, Volunteer (Approximately 5 hours per month including 1 hour board meeting)

**About the Organization**:  

5 Rock Learning is a newly established education-focused nonprofit dedicated to supporting homeschool students in grades K-8. Our mission is to empower homeschool families by providing a drop off program (4 days per week) that fosters academic excellence, holistic development, and collaborative learning.

**Position Overview**:  

As a Board Member, you will play a key role in the strategic development and governance of 5 Rock Learning. You will help guide the organization through its early growth stages, provide oversight, ensure financial sustainability, and contribute to our mission of supporting homeschool families. Ideal candidates are passionate about education, homeschooling, and community building.

**Key Responsibilities may include**:

- Strategic Leadership: Assist in developing and executing the organization's strategic plan, focusing on long-term sustainability and program development.

- Governance: Ensure the organization operates in a manner consistent with its mission, vision, and values while adhering to legal and ethical standards.

- Fundraising & Development: Collaborate with fellow board members to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, partnerships, and donor relations.

- Financial Oversight: Monitor the organization’s finances to ensure proper stewardship of funds, approve budgets, and review financial reports.

- Networking & Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for 5 Rock Learning, raising awareness of the organization’s mission and establishing relationships with potential partners, donors, and community stakeholders.

- Board Governance: Attend board meetings, actively participate in discussions, and serve on subcommittees or working groups as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Passion for education, particularly homeschooling and alternative learning models.

- Experience in nonprofit leadership, education, or finance is a plus.

- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

- Willingness to contribute time, talent, and resources to the success of the organization.

- Understanding of nonprofit governance, finance, and fundraising is an advantage but not required.
