SAVE Board Application

Sexual Assault Voices of Edmonton (SAVE) is a non-profit organization comprised of community members, agencies, and organizations who dream of a world without sexualized violence. Together, we are creating this world through internationally recognized campaigns that place responsibility on perpetrators of sexualized violence, raise awareness, challenge myths, and fight victim-blaming. We work in solidarity with survivors.

Our mission is to create awareness campaigns on timely and significant issues of sexualized violence that place responsibility for that violence on those who choose to use offending behaviours. We envision a city in which everyone is working toward a future without sexualized violence, and where the attitudes and norms that are at the root of that violence are discouraged, individually and societally. Our current campaign is entitled ‘Defund the Police.’ It is an act of solidarity in line with Black Lives Matter and other activists calling to divest resources in our community from policing, and towards community-based prevention and support services. In particular, our campaign focuses heavily on the failure of police forces to adequately serve survivors of sexual violence.

We are seeking energetic, passionate, and motivated individuals to join our board of directors and contribute to the development of our current and future campaigns. In particular, we are looking for individuals with experience in social media management, public education, facilitation, and/or community engagement. A time commitment of 5-8 hours a month is required, including one 1.5 hour monthly meeting. No prior board experience is required as SAVE is committed to providing board members opportunities for learning and development. The Government of Alberta is currently offering a webinar series on board governance topics which interested applicants may consider attending, for more information visit their website

We are accepting applications on a rolling basis; you can expect to be contacted within 1-2 weeks of applying regarding your application.

SAVE is invested in equity of opportunity for members of marginalized communities and those disproportionately impacted by sexual violence. We strongly encourage applications from individuals who are members of marginalized communities and are committed to creating accessible opportunities to participate. Whether you are a community member, a student, or affiliated with a community organization, if you have the desire to raise awareness about sexualized violence and challenge rape culture in Edmonton, we are interested in hearing from you and invite you to fill out the form below.
