Revisiting Homer's Odyssey
October 28 and 29, 2023, on Zoom

Saturday hours: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. EST, with an evening reading
      Sunday hours: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. EST

In this generative writing weekend, we treat the Odyssey as an opportunity to explore contemporary concerns about power and identity. Using selected passages from Emily Wilson’s recent translation of the epic poem, we will discuss a variety of overarching themes connected to issues of choice, control, and consequence. Linked writing prompts will tie these themes to explorations within our own lives, both as individuals and as members of the human community.

The weekend will include generous writing time, an afternoon revision workshop, and an evening poetry reading for participants.
