NZPF Provincial Referee Exam
This exam is open book and can be done in your own time. Anyone is welcome to do this exam for their own education as an athlete, coach, volunteer or supporter. All the answers are drawn from the most recent version of the International Powerlifting Federation Rulebook, found here. The correct answers are according to the letter of the rulebook, even if we have slightly 'softer' ways of applying the rules at local meets, or modifications for local meet situations when, for example, there is no jury.

The NZPF Referee Development Officers will be notified and receive the results when you complete this exam.

If you wish to continue on to become a Provincial Referee for the NZPF, after passing this exam, arrange with your club about serving as a referee. You should do this exam, or do it again, within 6 weeks before your first time serving as a referee. Ideally, you will serve as a Side Referee for squats and bench, and a Head Referee for deadlifts, but this is subject to the Meet Director's discretion.  Please wear your full correct uniform. When you have done this, notify Anna at anna.thompson.nz@gmail.com , and she will follow up with the meet director or similar to confirm you were a competent referee, then send you your badge.

While refereeing your first meet you won't be able to officiate any provincial records. You will need to swap seats with a Provincial or higher referee for any record attempts. It is the lifter and desk staff's responsibility to notify of any upcoming record attempts.

The pass mark is 70/75. You can do it as many times as you like. Email Anna on the address above if you have any issues or need clarification as to the process.
